PAMUKKALE AREA from Pamukkale (Private)

The archaeological site of Hierapolis has preserved a magnificent necropolis, the main street and gates, the thermal baths, the Greco-Roman theater and the Basilica of St. Philipps.

The newly excavated site of Laodikea, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation exhibits amongst others a Baptist, sacred road, 2 theaters. 

The Akhan Caravanseray, built in the XIIIth century, has been completely renovated. The main gate of this architectural masterpiece is decorated with pigeons, a quite interesting decoration which has never been represented in other caravanserays of the same period. 

Today, to give back to the Caravanseray its original function as trade center, some of the space has been let for souvenir shops and a restaurant. 

The Kaklık Cave were used as habitat in early ages which obviously drew the attention of researches. Yet, next to this, the cave was also hiding its natural beauty : stalactites and stalagmites giving the cave an aspect remembering the terraces of Pamukkale. This explains the cave is sometimes called “Pamukkale Cave”. 

The water in the cave is considered as a thermal water : clear, pure with a slight sulfur smell. 

As the water continue to drip, moss and small leaved ivy have adapted to the area. Depending the light, these plants take different nuances of green which adds to the beauty of the cave.

The Participants must be able to walk long distances over uneven and cobblestone surface under the sun. Therefore bringing Comfortable footwear and clothes, hat, sun cream and sun glasses are recommended.

Winters in some regions of Turkey can be quite cold. Hence appropriate clothes are recommended.
