An experience not to be missed! Hike along the rugged terrain of the Samaria Gorge cutting through a limestone plateau and with its 18 kilometres it is the longest gorge of Europe. You will be immersed in one of the best sceneries Crete has to offer.

At one point the walls are only 3 metres apart and are known as the ’iron curtains’ with sides rising sheer up to 100 feet (30 meters). 

The hike is followed with a short cruise around the southern coastline to the pretty costal village of Chora Sfakion.

Price per person joining a cosmopolite English speaking group with already a reduction for bigger families or parties.


The Participants must be able to walk long distances over uneven and cobblestone surface under the sun. Therefore bringing Comfortable footwear and clothes, hat, sun cream and sun glasses are recommended.  
Winters in some regions of Greece can be quite cold. Hence appropriate clothes are recommended. 


Do not forget : 
Good hiking boots or at least solid ankle-high walking shoes with good profil are essential as the terrain can be quite rugged and is steep at the beginning. Bring water but one bottle should be enough as it can be refilled from one of the springs along the route. 

Light food, like sandwiches, energy bars etc. as the walk is approximately 5-6 hours. (3-4 hours for experienced hikers) Sun cream and a hat , plasters in case of blisters. There is time for a swim or lunch after the walk so if guests wish they can bring swimwear and towel.

In the beginning and end of the season, a sweater or jacket as well as a rain jacket


Important information:

Due to the considerable amount of walking those wishing to go need to be in excellent health and reasonably fit. Also, due to the altitude of the beginning of the walk those with a fear of heights should not take part. The hike itself is not guided, everybody walks at his/her own speed, with the escorts walking through last to make sure that nobody stays behind.
