Symi, is a small island but has a rich historical background and is a piece of the Dodykanisos islands chain. The coast exists of sequentially cliffs of rocks and beautiful sandy caves. The isolated and unpopulated places can be reached with small boats and are very popular amoung the tourists. Symi is the birthplace of the attractive Ancient Goddesses and gets it’s name of "Nymph Syme" In the myts of Greece . The island has been collonised by different nations many times together with the 12 islands in the 20th Century. The island has been occupied by the Italians in 1912. In 1923 the island has been reunified to Greece .
The island has become a real paradise for tourists from all over the world in the last years.
Before returning to the port in order to return to Marmaris or Bodrum – via Rhodes or Kos respectively – or to proceed to any other island in the area (Kos, Rhodes, Kalymnos, Patmos), time at leisure to continue your exploration of the island.
Note : there is no airport on Symi and ferry connections to the mainland may require a connection in Kos or Rhodes.
