Turkey, surrounded for over 8000km/5000Mi of coastline, consists of seven geographical regions each proposing to the traveller another history, another geography, another cuisine, other people. To discover all these, even in a life time, is almost impossible.
Yet, Anker Travel propose in these pages some cultural tours merely based on one region or one episode of the rich history of this country. These itineraries are no more than "ideas for a start"... and specially prepared for individual tourists. Should you be interested in our finalizing any of these tours for you, we will be very pleased to do so.
Amongst other possibilities, the tours - to be done with public transportation or rental car - can be combined with a "Greek Island Hopping" tour or with a beach resort.
We wish you interesting discoveries and experiences ! |
| Q. For whom are these tours intended ? |
|
A. All the tours proposed in this site can be arranged for individual travellers, groups and student groups. And, upon your request, they can be re-organized, prolounged or shortened. |

| Q. When is the best period to realize a cultural tour in Turkey ? |
|
A. Taking as much as possible factors into consideration, the best period is May-June. Indeed, daylight is at its longest, the weather not too warm but yet very agreeable to wander on the sites, the nature is green and in blossom. If you cannot travel in this period, we then recommend September-October. Weather is still very nice though rainy and cold days may be feared . Daylight is short but still good enough to travel around.

| Q. What about realizing a cultural tour in the winter ? |
|
| A. This period has the advantage that everything is at the cheapest, except in bigger cities if your itinerary coincides with a congress or so. Also finding available hotels is not a problem. The only problems you may come across are : - In most places, group tours are not being operated, - Intercity coach connections are reduced to a minimum, - Some domestic airlines are being reduced to a minimum if not just stopped for the winter, - Some areas, especially in Istanbul, Cappadocia, Central Anatolia may be paralized because of important snow falls.

| Q. What must I absolutely put in my suitcase ? |
|
A. Depending the period of travel you will foresee warmer or fresher clothes. For the warmest period prefer natural fibers and light colours yet always think of a jumper and protection against the rain especially if you will tour in Cappadocia where evenings, even in July and August, can be very cold. For the winter (even on the southern coast), warm jumpers, gloves, cap, rainproof wearing. Furthermore, a good pair of shoes for the walks in archaeological sites, a hat, suncream (high factor), strong sunglasses. Though all medicines can be found in Turkey - even if with another name than in your country - do not forget your usual medication (not in your suitcase but in your handluggage) and some first aid medicines you and your family are used too. |

| Q. What are the terms and conditions for a cultural tour ? |
|
A. Prices for these programs cannot be defined in advance as they depend on period of travel, number of participants, requested services, category of hotels, means of transportation (rental car, public transportation...) Hence, for these tours, payment conditions and cancellation policy will be given separately for each file. |
